Cutie Circle 2024 Strum-and-Singalong

Join us for our 11th Christmas Jam is this Sunday, Dec 15 at 2 pm (not 1pm)!

There will be some of our holiday favourites and many great prizes (including a carbon fiber ukulele and other must-haves) for our free raffle draw for participants. Be sure to sign up for Performance Time and share a jolly Christmas tune! Let’s sip our hot beverages and munch our delicious treats together and catch up with fellow ukulele players in our Santa hats.

Everyone is welcome. Songs will be displayed on screen. No books necessary.

Please reply to events@cutiecircle.com with your name and phone number by Saturday to enter the free draw. Your information is only used for raffle prize pick-up.

Cuties Share Ukulele Joy in Metro Vancouver Throughout December

We have a full line-up of free community activities, performances, a food drive and, of course, our Christmas Ukulele Strum-and-Sing-Along! The Cuties will be hard at work practicing and everyone is welcome to join them at the rehearsals even if they cannot attend the performances!

City of Coquitlam Jingle Bells Night and Winter Lights Display
Friday, December 22

Join the Cuties and six other choral groups from 7 – 8 p.m. for carolling at the lake. At 7:30 p.m., stop wherever you are and join in a community sing-a-long of Jingle Bells. Help us break our record of 500 voices! Don’t forget to print ​your song book. Free jingle bells will be handed out to the public, while quantities last. Rain or shine!

TransLink Skytrain Evergreen Extension Opening Celebration
Friday, December 2

1. Free Ukulele Tutorials (10:30am to 7:00pm)

If you’d like to volunteer, please email to sign up. We’ll be teaching basic chords and carols. A couple of hours of your time would make a big difference.

2. Ukulele Christmas Performances (2:30pm–3:00pm; 5:30pm–5:50pm)

We will give two ukulele performances. If you’d like to volunteer, please email to sign up.

We are holding free ukulele lessons all day and playing two ukulele performances tomorrow at the Coquitlam Central Station in celebration of the opening of the Skytrain Evergreen Extension. Here’s Translink’s media release and a list of the family fun activities from food to music at the new stations. Santa may be making an appearance tomorrow.

Find us at the Coquitlam Central Station. Come and cheer us on, or better yet, join us at the booth and/or on stage! Bring your uke, music stand, Santa’s hat and good cheers!

Tom Lee Music Special Discount for December 2016

We are pleased to announce that participants of Jake Shimabukuro’s Ukulele Workshop on December 12 qualify for a 10% discount on ukuleles and printed music for the month of December at any of the Tom Lee Music Canada locations. This event has been designated a Coquitlam 125 sanctioned event in celebration of the City’s 125 years in recognition of the legacy the workshop will bring to the local residents.

Cutie Circle’s Christmas Strum-and-Sing-Along

It’s the Cuties’ 2015 year-end event to celebrate Christmas and to wish everyone a healthy, joyous and prosperous 2016.

Bring your friends, family and ukuleles to join us at the Cutie Circle. Come sing and strum along with other Cuties on Sunday, December 6, from 2 to 4pm in the Rehearsal Hall at the Evergreen Cultural Centre, 1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam.

Get into the community spirit and start practising songs for the holiday season. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Share Food Bank and get a chance to receive some fabulous Christmas presents. Among them, there will be a free ukulele and other ukulele-related gifts and gadgets!

We’ll have a few extra ukuleles on hand for all curious visitors who would like to participate in the festivities. As usual, we’ll have some light refreshments. Please feel free to bring Christmas goodies to share with your fellow ukulele friends!

There is a suggested donation of $3.50 to help defray the cost of venue rental.

Cutie Circle’s Christmas Extravaganza with Gary and Ron

We are very very honoured to have our next meeting be guest-led by our dear friends, Gary Cyr and Ron Usher, from the White Rock Ukulele Circle and Vancouver Ukulele Circle respectively. Big thanks go to Gary and Ron for their kindness and musical camaraderie!

We will be playing Christmas songs from the White Rock Christmas songbook. Please bring along your songbook. If you do not have one, you can purchase them at the next White Rock Ukulele Circle (on Saturday, Dec 6 from 2 to 4pm at the Semiahmoo House Society, 15306 – 24 Ave. Surrey). We will also have some on hand for purchase at $8 each.

For the break, we will have a mini snack potluck to celebrate the year-end. Please feel free to bring goodies and/or non-alcoholic beverages of any kind to share. We will have coffee and hot water for this special occasion. Cuties are also welcome to play their favourite tunes during performance time or even dress up in festive colours.

Following the song circle, we will have a Christmas Ukulele with Ralph Shaw workshop. Let’s make it an afternoon of holiday ukulele fun!

Christmas Ukulele with Ralph Shaw

Come and join international ukulele star and teacher: Ralph Shaw. This class will improve your ukulele playing while learning favourite Christmas songs.

Seasonal songs from the Vancouver Ukulele Circle Christmas book (which you can download at no cost) will be used as a vehicle to learn: Strumming Techniques, Simple Picking Patterns, and other easy-to-understand ideas. The goal is to make your festive repertoire sound great as well as being satisfying and fun to play.

(IMPORTANT – you need to download and print the book using the link below. Some books will also be available to purchase.)

You will come away with a package of seasonal songs that you can strum for all your future Christmases!

Everyone and all ages are welcome.
